Who is Inked Equity?

Two collectors with five decades in the hobby - building the structure that lets you get a small piece of a big deal!

Why access matters

The Inked Equity Advantage

The original comic art market is unlike virtually any other collectible category—and that difference is exactly why expertise matters.

Besides the one-of-one nature of the material, the greatest comic art was created decades ago and dispersed into private collections not long thereafter. The hobby's most significant pieces are often held by passionate collectors who view themselves as custodians rather than owners. As a result, the best artwork frequently remains off the market for decades, changing hands only through private transactions among a small network of trusted collectors.

The reality is that the greatest pieces don't become available because someone has money. They become available because someone has relationships.

That's where Inked Equity comes in.

Our team has spent years developing deep connections throughout the original comic art hobby. We understand the market, know the collectors, recognize the truly exceptional opportunities, and have access to pieces that rarely—if ever—reach public auction. We know the difference between good art and generational art, and we focus on acquiring the latter.

Inked Equity doesn't simply buy and sell high-end comic art. We identify the rare covers, splash pages, and historic examples that define the hobby—the works collectors spend decades pursuing and often hold for a lifetime. By leveraging our network and market knowledge, we're able to source opportunities that most investors would never encounter on their own.

Inked Equity opens the door to a market where access is the ultimate asset. Through share ownership, investors can participate in iconic, museum-quality comic art that would otherwise be available only to a select few collectors.

Dan Pottick

The convener.

Dan is a regular contributor to the CAF+ YouTube channel, joining a panel of experts to analyze recent auction results. In 2020 he co-developed CAFCON, an online comic art convention which served as a predecessor for ComicArtLive — the successful biannual event the site now hosts.

His collection has been featured in both exhibits and artist's editions, and for the last 15 years he has hosted regular meetups of comic art collectors in the New York City area; a tradition that continues to this day.

Joe Le

The acquirer.

Joseph “Joe” Le is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and respected figure in the world of original comic art collecting.

While Joe often jokes that he is a “failed lawyer,” he is unquestionably a successful collector. Initially coached by all-time great artist, and notable collector, Jim Lee, Joe’s built a reputation as the greatest comic art collector to emerge in the 21st century. Building an unparalleled network within the hobby, Joe has located (and often acquired) many of the greatest examples of comic art in existence.

Acknowledged for his historical knowledge and genuine passion for the medium, Joe has contributed to numerous exhibitions, publications, and projects over the years. True to his understated nature, he often prefers to support these efforts behind the scenes rather than seek recognition for his contributions.
